Book Review: Gone Away Lake By: Elizabeth Enright

Summary: Gone Away Lake is about a little girl named Portia who one day goes exploring the marsh with her cousin Julian. They find some old houses on the bank of the swamp. The houses look abandoned, except for two houses that have gardens, chickens and goats. They find two older people living in the houses and become their friends. They begin going to the houses everyday and having grand adventures. They find out about the swamps history and end up living in an old mansion on the edge of the swamp.

Review: I think both girls and boys 8 years and older will enjoy this story. I really like gone away lake and I also the sequel, Return to Gone Away lake. It is an adventure story which is just right for kids who like to explore like me.
